Change Promotions is glad to present to you this exclusive interview with the winner of the Second Annual Shining Starz Talent Showcase.
Sacred Harmony
C.P: First and foremost we want to congratulate you on winning the 2nd annual Shining Starz talent show. What emotions were going through your mind when they announced your names for first place?
S.H: Whoa! We won! It took a lot of time and effort to get to that point. We were very excited to at least make it to the top three, but winning was just a surprise.
C.P: What encouraged you to enter the Shining Starz talent show?
S.H: A lot of our school peers encouraged us. We said we won’t do it, but they insisted we go. It was pushes from our peers, even our family members, and last but not least Tanya really wanted us to participate with her.
C.P: Why did you choose to sing gospel music?
S.H: Gospel is what we have been doing for a long time even before the Shining Starz we would only sing gospel music. It’s all we know and we are safe with what we know. If we step out of that its going to be a shaky ground.
C.P: Would you consider singing a different type of music for next years Shining Starz talent show?
S.H: No! We are staying gospel.
C.P: Roughly what age did you start singing?
S.H: We all started singing roughly at the age of five. We would sing in the back seat of our parent’s cars which we are still driving today. It’s something we love to do and comes naturally.
C.P: How long have u guys been singing together?
S.H: A little over a year, but it seems like much longer because we all have been friends for such a long period of time.
C.P: How did you hear about the Shining Starz talent show?
S.H: Representatives from Change promotions came to our school handing out applications; they felt that they could find talent at the art school we attend. We took one. We wanted to give everyone a taste of gospel, since no one else was bringing gospel to the table.
C.P: Have you received any recognition after the Shining Starz talent show?
S.H: A little tiny bit. People would say “Hey, I’ve seen you on television and at the Shining Starz talent show” or “Hey, aren’t you from Sacred Harmony.” To tell you the truth this fazes us because we never expected this.
C.P: Do you feel that you are role models towards others?
S.H: We don’t necessarily feel like role models but would like to be good influences on our peers. We absolutely want to portray the message that you can be cool and still like or sing gospel music.
C.P: Do you find it more challenging to reach peers at your age?
S.H: It’s easier. They are our peers and we can reach out to them because we are the same age, we want them to know they can relate to us since we go thought the same issues they do.
C.P: What inspires you ladies?
S.H: God! Knowing that God gets the praise and God gets the glory inspires us. That’s basically why we do gospel music everything we do needs to turn back to him. This wouldn’t be possible without him; our voices are from him so we give it back to him.
C.P: What are your future aspirations?
S.H: To reach the youth of today so they can see that you can be cool and believe in Christ at the same time.
C.P: How to do plan on achieving those future aspirations?
S.H: Through the lives we live. Since gospel is what we sing we need to portray the message that we jut don’t sing it we do it.
C.P: Do you plan on staying together or going solo?
S.H: We would like to stay together, but we must leave that decision up to god.
C.P: How did u celebrate?
S.H: A lot of screaming and running, we had dinner together, and besides that we didn’t really celebrate. The trophy reached every single church we went in so that was another type of celebrating.
C.P: One more question, after performing your first act did you think that you had the audience as well as there votes?
S.H: Only the few people that we saw and our family members and friends. They all sat front row
C.P: Thank you for letting Change promotions interview your group and thank you for coming out to the Second Annual Shining Starz talent show .We will see you next year.
